Sancti Spiritus Continues Fighting A (H1N1) Virus
A strict control is kept in every work center in the central Cuban province of Sancti Spiritus in order to avoid the spreading of the A (H1N1) virus during the winter season. Health authorities emphasize personal hygiene as the main preventive action to face the disease.
Dr. Esperanza Leal Cañizárez, head of the Tuberculosis and Acute Respiratory Infections Program in the territory, said that the integration of sanitarian institutions and grassroots organizations have allowed both taking preventive actions and the early detection of infected people.
Clinical and epidemiological surveillance is kept over puerperas and pregnant women as well as over disabled and children under five years old, especially when temperatures are low, added the doctor.
Sancti Spiritus´ health authorities emphasize personal hygiene as the main preventive action to face the second wave of this disease, particularly in educational centers due to the amount of students from different places, even foreign countries.
