Health institutions from the central Cuban province of Sancti Spiritus play an active role in the battle against acute respiratory affections and other communicable diseases.

According to local health sources, over 27 thousand inhabitants from the mountainous regions of Fomento, Trinidad, Yaguajay and Sancti Spiritus receive medical care in 67 family doctor’s clinics plus five rural hospitals.

Health professionals in these regions also inquire for possible influenza patients in communities, work centers and schools.

The health network in Sancti Spiritus mountainous areas can contribute to the prevention, detection and treatment of influenza patients in due time, which is essential to prevent complications.
