The central Cuban province of Sancti Spiritus hosts the First Regional Forum on Otolaryngology and Immunology, running October 1 through 3.

Besides local delegates, the forum is also attended by professionals from the provinces of Villa Clara, Cienfuegos and Havana, the latter being mostly represented by delegates from important health institutions like Hermanos Ameijeiras, Calixto Garcia and Julio Trigo hospitals.

The event's agenda includes lectures, workshops, discussions on biomedical and clinical investigations as well as the launching of the book Clinical Neuroimmunology, by Dr. Alberto Juan Dorta.

Topics like the endoscopic surgery and the behaviour of external malignant otitis in this province are tackled in the meeting. Attendees’ debates have been also focussed on the Cuban program for inner ear implants.

The event, intended to honor outstanding local doctor Santiago Ruiz Suárez, is also attended by Antonio Paz Cordovés, chief of the Cuban Program of Inner Ear Implants, and by renowned Cuban doctors Adolfo Hidalgo and Celia Marín.
