Cuban GM Dominguez Draws in Wijk aan Zee
Leinier Dominguez drew his match against American Nakamura to remain unbeaten after ten rounds in the Corus Chess Tournament, 2010 first Grand Slam, underway in the Dutch city of Wijk aan Zee, Netherlands.
The Cuban GM tied after 70 moves, thus achieving his ninth draw with one win to accumulate 5.5 points. Only Leinier, world champion Anand and Russian Kramnik have not tipped their King once.
The best of the day was seen from sensational Magnus Carlsen who after yesterday’s defeat while playing with white pieces recovered and was able to beat Russian GM and until-then undefeated Karjakin. Equally important was Anand´s first win, this time against Alexey Shirov, who was moved into second place by Russia's Vladimir Kramnik, now with seven points alone.
Tomorrow is a rest day for the contestants to try to ease tensions to enter fully into the final stretch. On Friday Leinier will play Carlsen with black pieces in what will undoubtedly be a duel to the death.
