The Ballet Camaguey is considered the second most important ballet company of Cuba.

In his version of the classic, which the company has taken to Havana and Spain, the choreographer adds new elements enhancing the introduction in act II without affecting the visual and musical majesty of the original piece and its content.

In Camaguey, the ballet was accompanied by the city´s symphonic orchestra directed by David de la Mora. Dancing the roles of Giselle, Albrecht and Helarion were Dainelys Muñoz, Yanny Garcia and Nestor García respectively.

The BC, founded by Fernando Alonso on December 1, 1967, is considered the second most important ballet company of Cuba, following the national ballet directed by Prima Ballerina Alicia Alonso.

Fernando Alonso was also cofounder of the Cuban Ballet School and of the Cuban National Ballet, which he directed since its foundation in 1948 until 1975, when he became BC´s the director of the Ballet of Camaguey. He led the company of the Cuban eastern province for 15 years.
