Colombian authorities declared a state of sanitary emergency in Cali, capital of Valle de Cauca department, after four children and a 24 young man died of dengue hemorrhagic.

Dengue Fever Alert in Colombian City

Dengue fever is a viral disease transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquitos.

 According to what Alejandro Varela, secretary of municipal health secretary, said to El Pais journal, since the beginning of the year 718 cases of suspected dengue fever have been assisted in that city, 111 of them have been confirmed dengue fever.

 

Varela pointed out that the Secretary of Public Health is concern about dengue fever in that city. An epidemiologic report showed that the deceased got dengue inside their houses.

 

That’s why, authorities consider essential that the community comply with preventive measures to eliminate mosquito’s breading ground.

 

Educational and preventive measures are taken into account, especially in those sectors where the majority of the cases have been reported.

 

Dengue fever is a viral disease transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquitos which breed in containers with standing water.
