Sea freezing in north-eastern China gained ground on Wednesday owing to a new heat wave that extend the blanket of ice and is threaten to affect maritime operations and local population.

The ice covered area could rise for the next days.

 Bad weather returned after weather conditions have got better in Liaodong bay and Yellow Sea.

 

The State Ocean Administration warned about the situation on Tuesday. This was the first warning since last January 27.

 

The administration had to issue daily warnings owing to the same weather conditions last January 12 to 27.

 

According to that office, frozen cape rose 10 and 9 nautical miles in Liaodong bay and Yellow Sea respectively.

 

Meteorologist Shang Jie stated that the ice covered area could rise for the next days.

 

Giving the seriousness of the situation, the worst in the last 30 years, the weather conditions could affect the fishing and navigation sector as well as local population.
