Lula da Silva Suffers Hypertension Failure
Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva could not travel to Davos due to a hypertension failure that sent him to Pernambuco hospital.
The president had already taken the plain to Davos when he suffered a hypertension failure. Immediately, he was hospitalized in the Portuguese hospital of Recife, capital of Pernambuco.
The failure prevented the Head of State from being present at the World Economic Forum (WEF) where would receive the 2009 World Statesman Award.
According to local media, Lula was underwent an electrocardiogram, a chest X-ray and a blood analysis.
Doctor Ferreira ascribed the hypertension crisis to factors like "stress, tiredness and flu".
The physician added that "Lula does not suffer high blood pressure". Ferreire revealed that the president insisted on traveling to Davos but he was not granted permission. The president of the Central Bank Henrique Meireles will represent Lula in the Forum.
