Participants in the rally rejected violent attacks unleashed in some cities.

Thousands of people were gathering early in the morning at Caracas Square to march along several avenues in the capital, wearing red shirts, up to the "Paseo de los Proceres" monument, near the Tiuna Fort.

Participants in the rally also rejected violent attacks unleashed in some cities of this country in the last few days by radical opposition sectors, said leaders of the main Venezuelan political bloc, which groups more than seven million people.

PSUV leader Dario Vivas said the main slogan to the rally was "People and the Commander, building a future of hope."

On February 4, 1992, Chavez led a failed uprising against the neoliberal government of Carlos Andres Perez.

The head of State said that although the incident was a military failure, it paved the way to reach Miraflores Palace seven years later, with a socialist project supported by the majority of people.

Opposition students performed violent protests and riots in recent days, killing two people, causing material damage and wounding several security force members.
