Venezuela-Ecuador Integration Forward
Venezuela and Ecuador keep taking steps forward in bilateral integration, encouraged by 44 cooperation agreements in such fields as energy, food, finance, and defense.
"We cannot miss one day or one minute, because the horizon is clear," President Hugo Chavez said yesterday at Caracas' Military Academy, where he examined the course of bilateral agreements with his Ecuadorian peer Rafael Correa.
During the sixth quarterly meeting, the two presidents headed the ceremony for the signing of another ten agreements, apart from the 34 existing ones.
Correa stressed the importance of the new mechanisms signed in energy, food safety, and attention to the disabled, and thanked the $20 million donated in wheelchairs, crutches, and other means for people with disabilities.
Meanwhile, Chavez praised the actions for the creation of the Ecuador-Venezuela fund for development, an initiative intended to promote socioeconomic projects.
The other agreements signed were in science, telecommunications, mining, and agriculture.
When closing the meeting, Chavez and Correa ratified their commitment to advancing towards integration, as the only alternative for development and to change the world order imposed by large powers.
