Bolivia: Wide Support to Evo Morales Re-election
Rallies to close the governing Movement towards Socialism (MAS) electoral campaign continue on Thursday with an increasing support for Bolivian President Evo Morales for a second term in the 2010-2015 period.
A people concentration will take place at Campo Marte, with the presence of the statesman and his Vice President Alvaro Garcia, who is part of the MAS ticket for the December 6 general elections.
Development projects for this Bolivian Southern region and others of national impact will mark the speeches in the rally, according to the organizing committee.
Morales has also warned about the danger of crossover voting that the opposition is encouraging, trying to win the majority of the 36 senatorial seats.
The president has criticized the return of liberal parties' programs that promote privatization of natural resources, as the Progress Plan for Bolivia by former Civil Governor Manfred Reyes and the National Unity plan by the wealthy businessman Samuel Doria Medina.
Bolivians will elect the president and vice president of the country as well as the 166 members of the Multinational Legislative Assembly on December 6.
The regions of La Paz, Oruro, Cochabamba, Potosí, Chuquisaca and Gran Chaco and tens of indigenous municipalities will also decide their autonomous status that day.
